NWS Utilizes New Women-Owned Business Rule to Expand Access to Federal Contracting Opportunities

SAN DIEGO, SEPTEMBER 2011 - The Small Business Administration recently implemented a new women-owned small business (WOSB) contracting program that will provide WOSB with greater access to federal contracts.

This new program targets 83 industries in which WOSBs are under-represented in the federal contract marketplace.  These 83 industries have been singled out by NAICS Codes to help federal contracting officers set aside RFPs and target subcontracting plans to increase contracting opportunities to WOSBs.

National Water Services, Inc. (NWS) has been certified for the new WOSB program and is now registered in all plumbing, irrigation and domestic water related NAICS Codes.  Now all work performed by NWS on federal projects will fall under the statutory goals of this program and can help prime contractors when competing for federal contracts.

In additional to the federal WOSB designation, NWS is also certified as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) by the WBE National Council, the company's home state of California, and numerous states throughout the country.

NWS is also certified as a small business by the California Department of General Services. With this certification, NWS will receive a five percent bid preference on most California state, county and municipal bids.  Additionally, non-small business prime contractors who use California certified small businesses could also be eligible for a bid preference of five percent.

In many cases, NWS' small business certifications can be coupled with the company's national and state WBE certifications to make NWS a formidable subcontracting partner when bidding on federal, state, county and municipal projects.

Any organizations looking for a certified WOSB to partner with on energy performance contracts or to perform water conservation services can contact Jason Mayer, Chief Operating Officer, via email at jason@nationalwaterservices.com or by calling 573-356-7355.
